The Sunshine Coast in music
The Sunshine Coast recently had a chance to listen to one of today’s most famous romantic piano player, and will soon hear the most promising stars of tomorrow.
The Pender Harbour Music Society presented its fourth concert this season. Pavel Egorov performed a piano music to an enthusiast audience. He played Beethoven, Chopin, Schumann and Glinka. Egorov was recently made the Peoples’ Artist of the Russian Federation, the highest rank an artist can archieve in Russia. In was an honor to receive him in Pender Harbour, the public was charmed and called him back twice with standing ovations.
The Coast Recital Society will close its 2007/08 season with Tyler Duncan and Erika Switzer. The duo are rising young concert stars with a bright future and will play at the Raven’s Cry Theater. Performing all over the world, from New York (their residence) to France thought South Africa, and are acclaimed by critics and audiences. Duncan sings in the lieder, opera and oratorio genres from baroque to modern.
In addition to their recital, they will also perform for the local elementary schools, bringing a new light on classical music.
As always, the Sunshine Coast is promoting culture and arts in all forms. The communities and visitors alike strive for these events.




It’s a special day everywhere, and the Sunshine Coast is getting ready for the evening. Flower shops in Gibson and Sechelt smell like roses and restaurants have their menu ready.
The group came to Sechelt last November to present us with Dance-PLUS and a spectacular flamenco show. A new edition of the Dance series continue this year with this new show, this time playing at the Heritage Playhouse in Gibsons.
But sometimes, it’s nice to stay dry.
