Sechelt
is centrally located on the lower Sunshine Coast. The community enjoys a temperate stretch of coastline. While considered
part of the BC mainland the community is only accessible by the BC Ferry Service with reliable and regular sailing times. The
town of Sechelt sits on a narrow strip of land that separates the Sechelt Inlet from the Strait of Georgia. Summers are warm
and dry; winters are mild and moist. The town is well known for a vibrant artistic community, salmon fishing and ecotourism.

Recreation & Culture
Recreation and culture are central to the Sechelt experience. The community hosts arts councils and community alliances. Outdoor
recreation abounds with water sports, numerous land-based and water-based parks, hiking and biking trails, an arena, racquet
costs, skating boarding and three easily accessible golf courses. The community also provides several theatres and museums.
The area is host to a variety of excellent festivals and events.
Sechelt Communities & Neighbourhoods
The Village of Sechelt (Downtown)
The Village neighbourhood was the original settlement. This downtown village remains the central location for retail and government
services for the Sechelt and area.
Selma Park
Selma Park is a quiet residential neighbourhood that stretches along Highway 101.
Davis Bay
Davis Bay provides outstanding beach access and a spectacular view of Georgia Strait and Vancouver Island. The area hosts motels
and restaurants, and popular activities such as swimming, beachcombing, and fishing from the wharf. The slope above the beach
is developed which provides spectacular views and an ocean-side location.
Wilson Creek
Wilson Creek contains a large rural and residential area surrounding commercial and industrial development. This area includes
Wilson Creek Plaza, automotive dealerships, the airport, fish processing and sawmilling operations.
West Sechelt
This community sits on a large plateau. West Sechelt has the second largest population within the District, and is the location
of substantial new residential developments. This area also contains most of the area's agricultural community.
East Porpoise Bay
East Porpoise Bay includes a mixture of industrial and residential areas, including the new subdivision of Porpoise Bay Estates.
The area also contains Porpoise Bay Provincial Park.
West Porpoise Bay & Sunshine Heights
This area is now under development with new subdivisions such as The Shores and Sunshine Heights. The area provides spectacular
views of Sechelt Inlet, and the relatively flat, serviced land. Residents also enjoy easy access to the Village of Sechelt,
Kinnikinnick Park, the Sechelt Arena and Sechelt Golf & Country Club.
Sandy Hook
Initially developed for summer cottages, this area grew when a development company started to build permanent homes and cottages
in the area. The area still retains a cottage 'feeling', with many of the homes overlooking Sechelt Inlet. Additional features
of the area include a children's park, and a boat launching facility.
Tuwanek
Tuwanek is located on the east side of Sechelt Inlet at the foot of Mount Richardson. Recreational activities include, Tillicum
Bay Marina, the Tetrahedron Plateau and Provincial Park. Commercial enterprises include a hatchery, and log booming/sorting
operation.
